SparePlot is an early-stage project that connects people with spare land to people who want to grow. We collect as little as we can, and this page explains all of it in plain English.
Who we are
SparePlot is a pre-launch project and the controller of your data under UK GDPR. It is not yet a registered company. For anything to do with your data, email hello@spareplot.com.
What we collect
If you register your interest, we collect your email address, your postcode, and any optional answer you give about acreage or plot size. That is the whole form.
If you accept analytics cookies, we also collect usage data through PostHog: pages you visit, buttons you press, your rough location from your IP address, and your device type. If you decline, none of this is collected.
Why we collect it, and the legal basis
We use your form details to tell you when SparePlot launches near your postcode. The legal basis is your consent, given when you submit the form. We use analytics to understand which pages work. The legal basis is your consent, given through the cookie banner. We never sell your data. If we ever want to send you anything beyond launch news, like a newsletter, we will ask you first.
Who handles your data for us
Three providers process data on our behalf. Neon hosts our database, where signups are stored. Resend delivers our confirmation emails. PostHog provides analytics, hosted in the EU, and only runs if you accept cookies. Each one is bound by a data processing agreement.

We keep cookies to a minimum. Here is the full list.

Our spam protection, Altcha, runs entirely on this site and sets no cookies and sends nothing to third parties. You can change your cookie choice any time using the Cookie choices link in the footer.
How long we keep your data
We keep your signup until SparePlot launches in your area and you decide whether to take part, or until you ask us to remove it, whichever comes first. If the project winds down, we delete the whole list.
Your rights
You can see and delete your data yourself, right now, at spareplot.com/my-data. We email you a private link, you see exactly what we hold, and one button removes it. You can withdraw analytics consent any time with the Cookie choices link in the footer.
For anything else, like correcting a detail, email hello@spareplot.com and we will sort it within a month, usually much faster.
Complaints
If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
